Fordite, also known as Detroit agate or Motor Agate, is old Ford automobile paint which has hardened sufficiently to be cut and polished. It was formed from the buildup of layers of enamel paint slag on tracks and skids on which cars were hand spray-painted (a now automated process), which have been baked numerous times. It's a beautiful moment when the piece of Fordite is able to be cut and polished and set as a pendant.
This pendant is oval, 1 1/2" long and 1" at it's widest point. It is set in naturally dented sterling silver/copper with a black necklace and silver clasp. It is top coated with a thin layer of resin as not to scratch the sensitive Fordite.
